L'équipe de France de beach-volley connaît une ascension remarquable, marquée par des victoires significatives et une préparation intensive pour les compétitions majeures à venir. Avec des athlètes talentueux et une détermination sans faille, la France se positionne comme un acteur clé sur la scène internationale de ce sport passionnant.
La première partie de la saison a été particulièrement réussie pour les paires de l’équipe de France qui se sont distinguées sur le Beach Pro Tour. Côté masculin, c’est le cas d’Arnaud Gauthier-Rat et de Téo Rotar qui, pour leur première saison ensemble, ont décroché deux médailles sur le Beach Pro Tour, le bronze puis l’argent aux Challenge de Xiamen (Chine) et Alanya (Turquie).
Côté féminin, là encore, le début de saison a été particulièrement réussi, avec une nette montée en puissance de la paire Aline Chamereau/Clémence Vieira, qui a décroché ses premières médailles en Beach Pro Tour Challenge, le bronze à Alanya et Stare Jablonki (Pologne).
Ces succès témoignent du travail acharné et de la progression constante des athlètes français. "On pressentait cette montée en puissance au regard de leur année des Jeux où elles avaient déjà montré une belle progression, commente Christophe Victor. Elles confirment depuis le début de l’année, on sent qu’elles ont franchi un palier, arrivant notamment à bien gérer les momentum d’un match, ce qui leur a permis de décrocher deux médailles sur des tournois Challenge."
Et ce dernier d’ajouter, à propos de Lézana Placette et Alexia Richard, un peu plus en retrait lors des premiers mois de compétition : "Elles sortaient d’une année pleine, puisqu’elles avaient réussi à se qualifier pour les Jeux au ranking, ce qui nous avait permis d’aligner une équipe supplémentaire à Paris."
La France a défendu son titre à Espinho, opposée dans la poule A à l’Espagne, la Lituanie et à une redoutable formation néerlandaise (composée des paires Boermans/de Groot et Brouwer/Van de Velde). Elle avait remporté la compétition en juin 2024 à Jurmala (Lettonie), ce qui lui avait permis de décrocher un second quota olympique pour les Jeux de Paris.
Le directeur de la performance beach-volley à la FFVolley, Christophe Victor, explique : "C’est une compétition importante car elle donne une place au championnat du monde à son vainqueur."
Objectifs et Préparations
"On avait fixé trois objectifs sur cette saison, poursuit Christophe Victor. Cette compétition sera en tout cas une bonne répétition en vue des prochaines grandes échéances de la saison, les Championnats d’Europe (30 juillet-3 août à Düsseldorf) et les Championnats du monde (14-23 novembre à Adélaïde)."

Yorick de Groot : Un Parcours Inspirant
Yorick de Groot, an alumnus of Erasmus School of Economics, has qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris. The beach volleyball player from Sliedrecht makes his debut at the largest sporting event in the world. Yorick owes his qualification to a fine example of perseverance. Last March, together with his partner Stefan Boermans, he impressively won the Elite16 tournament in Doha, Qatar. On the way to gold, top duos from Norway and Sweden were defeated. Very recently, the Challenge tournament, the second highest level of the Beach Pro Tour, in Stare Jablonki (Poland) was concluded with a creditable third place.
Yorick, who studied ‘Fiscale Economie’ (Economics of Taxation), was six years old when he started playing volleyball for Sliedrecht Sport. To fill the summer lull, he started with beach volleyball when he was 14. A year later, Yorick joined the Dutch selection. At the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, he already won a silver medal with his partner Matthew Immers. In an interview for the 2019 Backbone Magazine (p. 28), Yorick stated that people who perform at a high level in sports are used to discipline: ‘Perhaps this explains why so many of them manage to complete a demanding study as well.’
Beach-Volley aux Jeux Olympiques
Beach volleyball is on the programme for the eighth time in Paris. Since the debut of beach volleyball at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, the sport has become indispensable. The matches are played in an iconic setting. Champs de Mars is located right under the Eiffel Tower. Twenty-four teams per gender participate in the Olympic beach volleyball tournament.
Classement et Performance Européenne
With their title in Doha, the Dutch added 1,200 points to their total, elevating it to 6,640, which would be enough to place them in 17th place in the Rankings. Other European teams in the top ten are the Netherlands’ Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen (sixth - 8,160 points) and Spain’s Pablo Herrera/Adrián Gavira (ninth - 7,500 points).
Among the women, Latvians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova, who were the best European team in the event, finishing fourth, gained two spots in the Olympic Rankings, going from eighth to sixth, now with 8,220 points. Two other teams from Europe appear in the top ten - Italy’s Marta Menegatti/Valentina Gottardi (eighth - 8,200 points) and Switzerland’s Tanja Hüberli/Nina Brunner (tenth - 7,100).
